Third period and on Caps applied more pressure in our end than we did in theirs. We still got some nice chances but they had more. Basically a miscue in the end won the game...even so Girardi and Staal both heading towards 40 minutes of ice time looked exhausted at the end.

An analysis of this series to the one against the Caps in '09 so far--less wins but we've been more competitive. Ovechkin hasn't been nearly as huge a force. Rangers have not been badly outshot or stuck in their own end for shift after shift. Henrik pretty much stole two games of that series last time around. Talent gap has closed a bit and we're younger and we should get better over the next season or two.
