We can armchair coach all we want, but Murray is who Murray is. And honestly, I don't think it's his fault that the Kings are down 3-1; it's the players'.

Murray's crappy obsolete system and coaching style didn't prevent the Kings from getting to the playoffs, coming a goalpost away from an OT win in game 1, earning a gritty 4-0 win in game 2, building a 4 goal lead in game 3, and climbing back into game 4 after it was 3-0. Whatever he was doing was working, and anything that was pissed away was pissed away by the players. There is more than a little merit to how he coaches.

Could he have made some moves that could have changed the outcome of the last two games? Maybe, but unfortunately, like with any personnel decision, you have to take the good with the bad. Being outcoached in a seven game series is part of the package. With Murray, you're destined to have a sound defensive club that will be in the postseason, but, sans a superstar like a Lindros, will probably not get out of the first two rounds of the playoffs. If that is not enough for us (and it shouldn't be), then that is something that Lombardi needs to answer for.
