The market is going to dictate the terms. A player of
Brad Richards caliber hasn't hit the ufa market in a long time, a lot of the players that have the traits that Richards are usually signed to long term high salary contracts. I think that it's in Brads best interest to get security in a contract, they are garunteed, and knowing how long will you be making a certain salary to do what you love and excel at is a very enticing thing to any man. He is going to get a frontloaded long term (7-8) year contract offer from somebody, now the question is how badly do you want Brad? If he is willing to sign for something like 8/42 with the bulk of it being frontloaded? Let's say 10 millIon the first year sign me up. I would be hopeful for that. From the mouth of Joe Michaletti : Brad richards loves to golf (one of the reasons Carolina was listed as one of his choices), he spends a month in the summer time in long island, he is a torts kind of guy, likes playing for him. He knows he is needed and wanted here, I think he will be wearing blue on July 1st.
