I'd doubt if they're looking to use their 1 forward spot on anyone on the Kings (other than Smyth) when guys like Perry, Getzlaf, and Doan are already available plus whomever else becomes available in the next 2 days.
Smyth would be a novelty choice due to the whole "Captain Canada" stuff but they'd be crazy to add him with the other guys they have available. They added him last year though so who knows.
I'm pretty sure Smyth will get an invite if for no other reason than experience. He's been there so many times, he knows what to expect.
I do wonder if we see Schenn get invited as an alternate like Jordan Eberle did though? Then again, playing on Team Canada would be team 6 and it would be in a time zone about 8 hours ahead of what he is used to.
Anyone think Bernier might go as a goalie? Beyond Reimer (even with him), Canada's goaltending isn't top notch like in past years. Generally, Canada has a big name goalie available to them for this tournament. But not this year.
On the US side, Brown, Johnson and Quick are slam dunks to be invited.
Slovakia will invite Handzus, whether or not he goes is another story.
I'm not sure that anyone else in the Kings' system will get an invite. The only person we may see is Constantin Braun for Germany. Seems to me the Kings hold his rights still.
