As for the Olympics, it seems to work this way, we do well in North America, and the Europeans do well elsewhere. The US got silvers in St. Lake City and Vancouver, but didn't do well in Turin and Nagano. With the next winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, I'd be surprised if the US gets a medal, and if Canada wins the gold. I think Russia will disappoint, as they will fail to deal with the expectations of being the host nation. Although with hockey, you're dealing with a small pool of elite countries: Sweden, Finland, Canada, Russia, US, Czech Republic, and maybe Slovakia, followed by Germany, then Norway, Denmark, Italy, France. Denmark is make surprising strides.

So, if Canada or the US do well in Sochi, I'll eat crow.
