Very, very unfortunate news. As many have said, didn't know him personally but from other first hand accounts he seemed like one of the better people in hockey. With that imposing size, he could have done some serious damage to many players in the league and took advantage of some players in very vulnerable positions. But you never seen that from Boogaard. He had such a great respect for the game and players in this league. And that's one of the things I'll remember most about him. He could have easily grabbed punks like Cooke (and others) and started pummeling. But you wouldn't ever see this guy do that.

With his passing, it really puts into perspective how silly moaning about cap hits and contracts can really be. These guys are people too. Their lives are as fragile as anyone else. Instead of complaining what kind of player Boogaard (and others) are and what they're paid, we should probably be focusing more on what type of people these guys are what they're doing off the ice by helping others. Sad.
