Huberdeau is the real deal. I saw 5 games out of the 6 in the president's cup and he was the best player on the ice... bar none. When Saint John needed a goal, Huberdeau was there to deliver and when they needed to kill off a penality or a 5 on 3, Huberdeau was on the ice to do just that.
I can see Huberdeau leapfrogging Couturier and even Landeskog. He has the mix of skills, grit, determanition, he's clutch and he's a team player*. He'll make some team very happy in the next 2 or 3 years, MAX. He finished the QJMHL playoffs with 16 goals, 14 assists in 19 games and got some hardware to boot (MVP)
* Huberdeau was almost invisible when everyone wanted to hold the cup. I was looking for him but couldn't find him and finally saw him talking to Clermont. He's the one that went and got Phillips's jersey for the team pic and carried it around during the entire celebrations.
Good news, now we get to watch him in the Memorial Cup, and if he does leapfrog into the top three or 4, we may have a better shot at Larrson. I also have no problem with taking him, Courts or Lando, but Larsson his the guy we need the most.
