Even Okposo has a group III year worth $4.5M
Just wanted to say, I'm not a Rangers fan but I've glanced over this board a few times (particularly re: potential contract info) and have found your posts especially informative. It's a shame some of the other Rangers fans don't pay anywhere near enough attention to your educated posts.

As for Callahan, perhaps something along the lines of:

2011-2012/Remaining Group II Yr (Age 26): $3M
'12-'13/Group III (27): $4M
'13-'14/Group III (28): $4.25M
'14-'15/Group III (29): $4.25M

Which ends up being 4 years, $15.5M, $3.875M cap hit, which is sounds right for a player of Callahan's caliber. And Callahan is potentially able to hit the FA market at the age of 30.

Perhaps the Rangers are looking for an additional year to that term, in which case the cap hit rises as another year of Group III (unrestricted) free agency is bought.
