Because Minnesota doesn't have two first round picks. Why would they want to drop from 10 to 15?
Colorado has two first round picks. #2 and #11.
Minnesota may not have an issue dropping down one spot.
If our guy is there, why wouldn't we pay that price? Why settle for a lesser player when a high-end player could be had 5 spots ahead of where we are supposed to pick at #15.
Rangers themselves said its a 10 pick first round that drops off after the top 10.
If the opportunity is there to get into the top 10 without sacrificing a top prospect, any future picks, or any NHL core players, we should do it.
I doubt Minnesota would move that far down.
Colorado is our best bet for an initial trade partner. From #11 things are more manageable.
