Salvador cleared for Trade/AHL/Retirement

The last thing this team needs is an Eric Lindros on the blueline.

I sincerely hope for his sake he packs it up before he turns his brains to mush.
Sal did not have a brain concussion - he had an inner ear concussion

RALEIGH, N.C. — Bryce Salvador, who has yet to play a game this season because of a cochlear concussion suffered during the preseason, said he no longer fears the problem is career-threatening.

"Not anymore. I don't have any permanent or long-lasting issues," Salvador told me via telephone a few minutes ago. "It's really more time sensitive. You have to do the proper rehabbing."

Salvador said the problem is related to when he was hit in the face by a puck two years ago.

"Two years ago, I took a puck in the face and got an inner ear concussion," he said. "For some reason a couple of bumps this (preseason) set everything off."

Salvador said he isn't sure exactly what triggered the problem in September or when he might play again.

"Nothing is ruled out. It's possible I can be back if the team makes a strong push, but I'm not putting any pressure on myself," he said. "The worst-case scenario is I'll be ready for next season.

"I'm confident in my ability to come back and play. I'm excited. But you don't want to come back too soon and have a relapse. There is no time line. It could be sooner. It could be longer. It could be weeks or days. I know I have a chance."

This season seems somewhat unrealistic, but he isn't giving up hope.

"I've heard about other situations where guys basically can't get out of bed," he said. "This has been a work in progress. I know you can't go two years and come back and play, but it's gotten more encouraging.

"The Devils have been supportive about it. If you don't have the right support maybe you don't get some of those answers. I've seen concussion specialists and ear specialists. It involves balance. It's a unique situation because of the ear injury I had."
