A 4.5 M offer sheet is really not a bad deal. You get a good young player (arguably Kessel-like), and only have to give up a first and a third. Considering we gave up similar picks for one year of Tanguay and Sopel, not a bad deal. When you factor in a contender having picks in the 20-30 range it makes it even more tempting. Just look at the players people trade for at the deadline. People give second round picks for players nobody wanted in the summer (Moore for example).
