It isn't that we don't have the numbers for it and we do have a solid market, it's the fact that I just don't see other Montrealer's rooting for another team. If we were a huge city like NYC and we had two stadiums at opposite ends of the city maybe I could see it but I really doubt Montreal could support a second hockey team. The Expos I think would get by and an AHL team would likely flourish.
That would fail unless Hamilton straight up moved their entire organization to Montreal. Hamilton does a great job developing our players and quite frankly in Montreal the AHL fans would demand wins and we'd end up with a poopy AHL squad that plays to win now, screw the NHL affiliate like the Chicago Wolves.
