Sure it would. Drury would be a cheaper buyout for Columbus than Commodore. Drury would waive his NMC because he's getting bought out either way.

For the Rangers, it doesn't help us this summer because we already have Redden eating up the 10% overage, but we could send Commodore down to begin the season. So instead of being stuck with Drury's buyout cap hit during the season, we lose Commodore's cap hit and have a ton of space come the trade deadline.
