I have a feeling that Scott Gomez was embaressed this past season and will be working his behind off this summer to be ready to go for the next season in Montreal.
Look at this:
2005-06 New Jersey Devils 82GP / 33G / 51A / 84 Points
2005-06 New Jersey Devils 82GP / 48G / 41A / 89 Points
Can these two become our Lecavalier - St.Louis???
Something tell's me that Scott Gomez has to bounce back, I honestly believe that he is our Kovalev and this teams success all depends on him, if he is able to put up points with Gionta I am not worried about Cammalleri - Plekanec, defense and the goaltending.
I honestly believe that Gomez just had a bad year. I don't think he's lost a step or any of the skills he once had. I think he became obsessed with trying to score goals at some point in the season because nothing else was working, and he started to make foolish decisions with the puck--i think it was really a confidence issue with him. he still has great vision and i have little doubts, really, that a line with him, Gionta and Pacioretty won't be really good next year.
