There is more to it then what you post though. Look at this many teams are available, with Euro qualifiers and a lot of non-euro leagues still going. Mexico played a weakened Ecuador squad and New Zealand....then you have to remember its harder for NA teams to schedule friendlies due to the travel...and its not like the US was gonna go somewhere 3 days out of the GC.
