I won't be surprised if it's Jackman; this club seems to view being Captain as a responsibility not a reward based on merit. It's going to come down to who can take that responsibility for the team, not be the most impressive member. The reason young guys like Toews get that privilege is because they in fact do take responsibility for that team on the ice and have the character off the ice to stay humble in doing so and keep pushing just as hard the next game. Backes shows that determination but he also loses his cool and uses his emotions to help drive him and his teammates out of high pressure situations, I'm not sure that's seen as leadership so much as grit.
