It's a good deal for Ottawa because for this season and next, they'll be able to keep their "big" ticket players. In the future, a healthy Heatley will command big time money.

Right now, Hossa is a better hockey player. Their offensive numbers are a wash when Heatley is healthy, and Hossa's defense is much better; Heatley does have a question mark surrounding his knee as well.

As a Flyers fan, I don't think this deal affects us terribly. Hossa is better than Heatley, and the Sens still lost a veteran defenseman, regardless of whether he "gelled" with the team or not. I'd be inclined to say that this deal will not affect the standings of the East at all.

Atlanta however is a playoff bound team in my opinion. They could be very dangerous.
