I'm not sure if this has started happening in the States yet but people can now have their home insurance voided for their behavior on social networking sites. For example tweeting that you are going away to France for a week, because people will then see that and know that your house is most likely empty, leaving it an easy target for a burglary. You're also supposed to blank out the registration plate of your car if you upload a picture of it to Facebook, otherwise it would increase the risk of it being stolen.

It is funny how stupid people can be on Facebook, a guy on my team once called our coach to tell him he was 'ill' on the morning of a game, then put on Facebook "was such a messy night last night!!" for everyone including most of the team to see it
