Hatcher out 4-6 months and some other thoughts on the division..

Bad, bad news for Detroit. He was a big part of the more defensive type game they were trying to implement.

Also just wanted to throw out the parity that is going on throughout the NHL.

ANY team can beat any other on a given night in todays NHL and it's happening more and more. The margin of victory in games is nil and with the conservative way the game is now played it will continue on this way.I think we'll see a tight pack pretty much the entire yr in the standings.

And while we haven't had a good start it's not as if others in our division have gotten out of the gate quickly either.

Philly played a 0-0 tie last night as well. This is what is going to happen when you play this style that Hitch does and what Slats is trying to implement here.

NJ has 2 ties already and one win vs Carolina. The Isles are 1-1-1 and had a miserable showing opening night as well and Pitt is Pitt.

The NYR's have to stick to trying to limit chances in their own end and when they become more comfortable in their defensive game then they will be able to address getting the offense going and it will get going with the guys we have on the team and once #2 is starting the attack and manning the point on the PP.

If they do this and get some W's in this homestand I think the season will get ontrack to ending the drought and putting us in a decent spot in the standings.
