It might make sense for Morrisonn, since there are multiple Sabres D-men making half his salary or less and doing more for the team. But Hecht is too versatile and smart a player to just get rid of, and I think Boyes will be more productive now that he has had some time to get settled with the team - especially if he's able to go back to playing the wing. If we buy those guys out, then we have to assume the risk of replacing them as well.
Just buying out Morrisonn could put the Sabres over the top in terms of accommodating a star-calibre contract. But then we are probably without both Morrison and Montador, which leaves a very inexperienced blueline.
And I agree with Ron Barr - the paycheck-to-suck ratio isn't nearly high enough to warrant buying out anyone on the team, really.
