Giguere, Fleury and Ward were not mid-level goalies. Maybe not consistently elite like the older guys you mentioned, but they are top goalies in a given year and were in the years they won the Cup. Osgood often played like an elite goalie in the playoffs and did in 08. Lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the world because he's consistent, not because he's a fundamentally better goalie than most of the guys who have won the Cup since the lockout.
I get your point, that none of these guys are really top-5 goalies. But people constantly claim that they're mid-level and they aren't. Last year was an aberration, not a continuation of a trend.
