No one said Kolarik was a mentor. Do you expect the Grachev's and Kreider's of the world to develop offensively when Kris Newbury and Justin Soryal are their linemates? No. You need a top 6 in Hartford the same way you need a top 6 in the NHL.

With the possibility of Grachev and/or Zuccarello permanently earning a spot with the Rangers next year, re-signing at least one of Kolarik and Jason Williams was a no-brainer.

Grachev, Kolarik, Hagelin, Zuccarello, Newbury, Weise, Dupont, T. Grant, Ryan Bourque, Chritistian Thomas(not sure on his eligibility) and perhaps Williams is a nice assortment of players to build a top 9 at the AHL level with. And it has grit and size mixed in.
