The argument about entertainment being the first victim of economic crisis, is something that happened in the 20s and 30s, and somewhat in the 80s. The entertainment industry wasn't that much affected by the economic crisis of 2008. It's been more affected by technological factors, like the internet, and torrent sharing, than anything else in the last decade.
I guess that makes the general population completely stupid because I know that'd be the first place I'd cut my spending.
