Talked to Glen Metropolit

Glen was recently in Toronto for a friends wedding and I was able to talk to him...

Glen still stays in touch with a few habs inluding Gorges, Gill, Gomez and Moen to name a few...

Glen states that Gorges really wants to stay with the Canadiens and states that he is in amazing shape as well and feels he has a lot to prove. Glen believes Gorges will sign with the Habs...

Glen who also stays in touch with some of his former Boston Teammates and he also attended a few games in Vancouver and keeps in touch with Thomas, Lucic, Thorton, and stated that some of the bruins felt that the Habs were there toughest test during the playoffs.

Glen had a great year playing in the Swiss A league for Zug as he lead the team in scoring with 53 points in 47 games (Not sure where he finnished amongst the leaders, but I think he was up for an award or won an award? ...he really loves playing in the Swiss League, but really wanted to return to the habs last year, but they were only able to garner him a 1 year 2 way contract...and signed with the swiss team for 2 years and will make close to 3 million US over that contract.

Glen played with Raphael Diaz this past season and he was asked for feedback in regards to Diaz by Habs brass. Glen stated that Diaz was being scouted by several teams and that he has alot of upside. Glen states that Diaz is a very good skater and posistions himself very well and has good vision on the ice. Glen states he has a bullet of a shot. Glen feels that Diaz biggest challenge may be the physical aspect of the NHL, and feels that he will adapt and he states that he will probably start of with the dogs but end up with the habs at some point.

As far as toughness goes Glen thought that that was the deciding factor in the first round against the Bruins. Glen said that Habs brass had been approached by some of the vets last season to address the issue of size and grit, but it was not addressed Glen thinks the habs don't necessary need a goon but a couple of big bodies that can bang and drop the gloves if needed.

Glen believes the habs are very close to being a contender and wishes them the best!
