Ducks Press Release
Ducks right wing Corey Perry has won the 2010-11 Hart Memorial Trophy as “the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team” during the 2011 NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas. Perry is the first player from a Southern California team to win the Hart Trophy since Hall-of-Famer Wayne Gretzky earned the honor with Los Angeles in 1989. Perry is also just the third player from a California team to win the Hart, joining Gretzky and San Jose’s Joe Thornton (2006).
Perry's Hart Trophy win was announced at the NHL Awards, held tonight at The Pearl Theater at The Palms Las Vegas. Perry won the award with 1,043 points (67 first-place votes, 47 second-place votes, 8 third-place votes, 1 fourth and 1 fifth.) Vancouver's Daniel Sedin finished second with 960 points (51-56-9-4-1).
“Congratulations to Corey Perry on this tremendous accomplishment,” said Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “This is a historic day for the Perry family and the entire Anaheim Ducks organization. Corey deserves this terrific honor following a season that defines what the Hart Trophy is all about.”
