Miller records shutout for Amerks

Miller stars for Amerks

October 18, 2003) — Goalie Ryan Miller, reassigned by the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday, did everything expected of him in his Rochester Americans’ debut Friday night.

They nearly needed him to do even more. Namely, score.

But Miller did enough by just stopping all 27 shots he faced, and Paul Gaustad became the offensive hero with a short-handed goal early in the third period as the Amerks defeated the Toronto Roadrunners 1-0.

Miller will probably get the start again tonight at Syracuse. The Amerks are missing a good chunk of their offense with Botterill, Taylor and Pittis up with the Sabres, and Roy out with a concussion.
