Chad Johnson spent 40 days on the NHL roster in 10-11. For the $525,000 NHL minimum, that's a $112,903 summer cap charge for a goalie who will not be on the NHL roster and will battle 3 other goalies for time in the AHL. Makes no sense to bring back Johnson.
On qualifying offers: “We’ve made qualifying offers.
All the players that are free agents within the organization that we want to keep, we’ve made the offers to
. We sent those out last week.”
Even John Mitchell isn't worth re-signing. 126 days on the Leafs roster. He had a 1 way last season for $725,000. His QO is $761,250. It can be a 2 way. If he agreed to $525,000 in a 2 way for more AHL money, his summer cap hit is $355,645. $525,000 one way is $525,000 against summer cap.
