I doubt he was offered league minimum. Probably something around 1 mil per year.

He might find some team willing to give him more, but he might not. I'm guessing that his decision was motivated more by playing time than salary. The Rangers have a lot of young depth on defense. Gilroy would have probably ended up as a #7 on this team.

If he can find a team willing to give him more minutes, it will be better for his career, regardless of how much he's making.
