The problem with Lapierre is a painful lack of consistency in his play and effort. He also has a very incomplete skillset (which is to be expected of a bottom 6 player of course).

He'll have a good game or two and be invisible for ten others. Talented players CAN get away with it but a coach likes to be able to know what to expect with its bottom 6ers in order to rely on them.

Max Lapierre can look like a legit top6 player one day and like an ECHLer the next, its frustrating on the long haul. There are playoffs were he was pretty invisible also, altho that was a few years ago. In the last two years he's shown he can raise his level of play at least but its moot if he can't hold onto his spot in the regular season.
