Former NHLer Dave Reid is the GM of Peterborough
"We were thinking of a trade but at the end of the day, Peter was better than any deal we could have made," said Reid, who is looking forward to seeing him in his first Petes camp in August. "He was what we wanted. We needed a defenceman. Defence was our main focus and where we needed to strengthen up. We needed someone with the guys we have. He will fit in great with our group, being about the same age."
Reid said he was impressed with him in the three games he saw him play in Europe where it was the first time he saw him play. "He has all the tools," said Reid. "He is big and mobile on his feet. He moves the puck well and is a physical defenceman. He has a lot of skill and is very solid. He stood out right away with his play. He meets all our needs."
Ceresnak is rated by others a stay-at-home defender with excellent puck skills, a strong skater with above average acceleration and is very tough to knock off the puck. "Along with excellent skills, Peter brings international experience which will allow him to adjust to the OHL quicker than most first-year players," Reid stated.
Reid was also impressed with other facets. "From all the contacts we have made, he is a fantastic person as well, which is very important to us," said the GM. "He speaks good English and should be great with the other guys."
