Even after the Kovalchuk Amendment, section 26.3 of the CBA states:
I think the structure of this contract, although not in violation of the Kovalchuk Amendment would be enough to warrant serious examination if presented before the arbitrator.
NHL should absolutely bring this before the arbitrator and stop allowing teams to run roughshod over the CBA.
So maybe Buffalo is forced to lose a 1st round pick.
