On MZA's top 6ness. MZA can play either wing. Forget his chances as a top 6 right wing on our club--those two spots are Gaborik and Callahan. One top 6 left wing is Dubinsky. If it's between him and Mats Dubi is the 1st liner. But then we have Wolski--can MZA push him out of the picture? That's not clear. So then can MZA thrive in a lesser role? He certainly can help on the pwp but forget pk. So as a 3rd liner he has limitations. He lost his spot eventually because of size and strength issues. He'll probably improve but MZA is not the next St. Louis or even Gionta. He doesn't have the speed for one thing. He's a good player--very skilled but his future as a Ranger is not clear. He may prove himself somewhere else but as of now he's going to have to win the battle against a whole bunch of contenders--Wolski, Thomas, Hagelin and Kreider,Fasth and Miller in the near future. He's a player who is between a rock and a hard place in this organization. He's going to need a big 2011-12 season if he's going to have any future here.
