It depends on the affiliation agreement. It's an issue with the minor leagues being used as a farm system; the AHL team wants to win and pack the seats, the NHL team (who signs the checks) wants their players to develop. Of course, I also regard the structure that sees doctors paid directly by the team as a conflict of interest, so take that for what it's worth.

The recent moves toward direct ownership of the AHL team may make for an interesting landscape shift in the future.

I think there's been a good working relationship with Springfield and Columbus thus far. Landon is very respected in the world of hockey for both his hockey and business acumen.
