I'd love to see Stamkos in orange and black, but his salary hit would likely be an opposition which could cripple the organization's chances of building a contending team. Not to take much away from Stammer, but a lot of his points come from playing with St Louis. Any cap hit over 7 - 7.5 starts to inhibit an organization's ability to sign other high-end talent under the cap. Look at Pittsburgh and the Capitals; the signings of Crosby and Malkin has made it nearly impossible for the Penguins to sign other highend forwards and defenseman. A similiar situation exists with the Capitals and Ovechkin's fat salary. If Stammer won't sign in Tampa for 7 - 7.5 cap hit after Tampa took the 2010-11 Stanley Cup Champs to 7 games in the EC Finals, then he wants too much money to play on a contending team..... Sometimes you have to sacrafice a little to earn your chances to win the big prize, lest your big prize is a big fat pay check.
