Stay at home d-men/defensive d-men/shutdown d-men
All pretty much the same thing, guys that are outstanding at stopping the other team from scoring goals, usually by being physical, clearing the slot, blocking shots, great gap control, breaking up rushes, etc. Think Marc Staal, Luke Schenn, Zdeno Chara.
Puck moving d-men
Defensemen who excel at getting the puck out of trouble in their end and making a great pass to start the breakout. Think Nicklas Lidstrom, Tomas Kaberle, Brian Rafalski.
Of course there are guys who are good at everything, like Lidstrom, Chara, etc. We are insanely jealous of those teams
Weber is an offensive defenseman?
