I don't think people would really trade for him, when they could merely make an offer sheet that would be too high for the Bruins to match. By my calculations they have about 34 million in payroll as it stands. So if I were a GM that had cap space, I would offer Raycroft a 3 year deal at 3 million per year, and offer Boynton the same deal. That would mean that the Bruins could only match one of those offers without going over the cap, and thus have to choose between a #1 d-man and a #1 goalie.

And this whole was wholly dug by the Bruins by giving big contracts to Thornton, Murray, Leetch etc, without first locking up their own RFAs.
