Agreed. This has always worried me when the shootout concept has been brought up, though I think TV has gotten mentally tougher over the course of his career.

If they were to do some kind of "Mason takes the shootouts" setups, I think it would be important to establish that in camp. You don't want Vokoun going out and giving up 3 the first 3-4 shootouts, then put Mason in for the rest, because that might mess Vokoun up mentally for the year, or longer.

My prediction is that we'll see TV go through some kind of early season shootout funk, a la the pad change, he'll see a shrink and it won't be an issue by January-February. How much that'll cost us? hopefully just the cost of the shrink.
