To be fair, Markov took so long to adapt to the language and culture that staying here was the logical option for him.. Yeah he said numerous times he loved the city and their fans, what is probably true, but from a shy person having adaptation issue like him, I wouldnt put so much weight in this.. Also, Markov has been Habs' only real puckmover for years, he had no competition inside of the team and everybody knew we were done without him, so our lack of depth at moving the puck on D increased Markov's legend as a Habs, as far as Im concerned, Im still awaiting for him to do something positive in playoffs for us, what he has never done in the past..

Finally, Markov could play in the shadow of another Habs defenseman for the first time of his carreer this year.. Subban has already reached a pretty high status so Markov will never be as big as he used to be for this team.. Dont get me wrong, he is still very important, but will never reach the god, craziness status again.. We have some nice puckmoving defensemen growing in the system right now in Diaz Weber Bennett Beaulieu so it could be Markov's last contract with the Habs if he doesnt find a way to stay healthy and help this team in playoffs..
