There are lots of reasons that moving Boston out and Detroit in to the north east would make sense. Also, it would allow the NHL to break up the most intense and successful rivalry in the entire league, which is the kind of direct attack on hockey fans that Bettman's really good at. Maybe when Quebec gets in, they can break up Philly and Pittsburgh.
Seriously though, with Buffallo moving to the top of the league in salary, along with Burke's continuing efforts to improve Toronto, the NE is possibly the best division in the league in terms of rivalries. So yeah, break it up.
