Like I said on a team where there is a Stamkos or Crosby or Getzlaf DD is fine as a number 2 (potentially) but still Eller is a better option. In Montreal they have no Crosby Malkin ect....Eller has to be that number two if Gomez is gone. It's the only size they have at the position.

DD would get eaten alive a s a number two behind Plekanec!
Did you actually READ what I wrote? I said that Eller would be like a 2B matched against one of the top lines and that Desharnais as #2A center with Gionta and Pacioretty would be able to feast against a bottom-6 line on the other side.

This is assuming Desharnais continues to progress to the point where he can replace Gomez' offence within another year or so.

So, to summarize, by 2012-13

Pleks-Cole-Cammy vs Top-6 line
Eller-Leblanc or Palushaj-AK46 versus Top-6 line
Desharnais-Gionta-Pacioretty versus 3rd line
4th C-White-Darche or other winger versus 4th line

Our 1st line, third line and maybe Eller get PP minutes

Desharnais' line does NOT get "eaten alive"!!

Now that I have demonstrated THAT, we can assess the plausibility of the rumours regarding moving Gomez.
