He says he had to learn to skate again to play in the KHL. In the NHL he used to cycle the puck a lot and was impossible to knock off the puck. In the KHL he couldn't use his cycle game as much and he had to work on his speed again. He also had to work on his conditioning and his fitness level is better than it's been for the last 5-10 years.

Jagr since the lockout was not known for his speed, in fact in 2005-06 when he scored 54 goals, he didn't score a single breakaway goal.

He's faster now than he was at any time post lockout and I can say that confidently.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Jagr will be better than ever before!!!!!!!!!!!

At 39 he will bring speed to his former game. That should easily bring him to 70 goals and 150 points.

So, for players without speed, they should go to Russia and play for 3 years and then come back, because playing in a weaker league for a long time should make them better at whatever they lacked before.

That's why you see it ever so often: Players returning to the NHL from KHL always seem to rip up the NHL. Conquering the top of the scoring charts and scoring like never before.
