Meh. I've negotiate plenty of deals in my lifetime and motivated parties can frequently reach a meeting of the minds prior to the 11th hour. Ladd did. Stafford did. Heck, the NFL and the NFLPA appear on course to reach an agreement in plenty of time to save the 2011 season.

Waiting until the 11th hour indicates someone was trying to wring (or hold back) every last penny or year...
