The two situations are not comparable. The Habs were still here and still had by far the richest history of any team in the sport. The building might not have been sold out every night, but they still led the league in attendance. I don't think there was ever any significant concern other than the Canadian dollar.

Baseball is a MUCH bigger gamble here. I'm convinced it can work under the right circumstances, but there is definitely risk and honestly it will cost a lot more than Molson recently paid to get the Canadiens and the Bell Centre.
