If you want to get your speed back, the main thing (in my opinion) is building up strength in your thighs (that's where most of the power comes from). I typically just do lunges and if I have time to get in a gym I'll do a few sets of squats. Not only will you get faster if you stick to strengthening your thighs, but you'll find that you'll have more endurance.
