Clearly, some of you have never had a sports injury. I was a professional tennis player many moons ago and tore a ligament by my tailbone - it took nearly a year to figure out that I couldn't have it repaired surgically well enough to play professionally again. Despite that, I sat out for two years and tried to give it a go again - and the training lasted again for 6 months and the injury reared its ugly head again. Rinse and repeat.

The guy probably wants to play with every fiber of his being and clearly his issues aren't resolved. He knows it's getting close to the end and pulling the trigger on "the decision" is a very, VERY difficult thing to do for a professional athlete - especially if your body is betraying you.

Those of you thinking that there's some motive for him to not retire to just "screw the Rangers" are just as naive as it gets.
