I don't really like the trade. A 3rd rounder for Sheppard, a guy that you will likely sign to a two-way contract and have him play in the AHL most of the year, is not great value. When healthy, he's got a lot of the skills you want but he doesn't have the mental side of the game even close to the level needed to succeed here. This deal is predicated on the Sharks being able to turn his development around after he gets healthy and I don't have much faith in the Sharks to turn a young project player around.
Need another move though even with this to address the top nine.
