I don't recall Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman, Mark Messier, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux going through such long slumps in the playoffs.

Resulting effects:

Choice #1: Can't score against Ottawa.

Choice #2: Can't score against Ottawa.

Recurring theme.

Good thing it was Ottawa and not New Jersey. Talk about the stuff hitting the fan. Oh wait! that happened for three games (5,6 and 7) in 2000 when the Flyers couldn't score against the Devils. And we can't even blame Roman Cechmanek for the biggest meltdown in the last 5 years

I think there are better Captains to be had who aren't playing for any team right now.
A captain doesn't have to be the best player on the team, or the best goal scorer. Rucchin & Carney are much better captains than Kariya was. Same in L.A. Norstrom is a better captain then a player like Palffy.

When looking at future Flyers captains, even though Gagne is the best of the young players, a guy like Williams is more lke captain material.

Desjardins was the captain in 2000.

It must be tough for you rooting for a team than you never have anything positive to say anything about.
