only a few things bug me about this trade:

1) This deal was made right after the injury to Kariya. Konowalchuk will essentially replace him until he returns, thus giving Chris McAllister a roster spot which he simply does not deserve on a high-caliber team like this.

2) I really find it hard to believe that the Capitals were not interested in Martin Skoula. Bash him all you want, but he's 24 (?) and has a Stanley Cup ring. He's played well when it mattered, and whether he's regressed or not, he would've been the #3 defenseman on the Capitals easily. I think the deal could've been expanded to include Battaglia, Skoula, Johansson for maybe Kono, a good Caps prospect, and a 2nd. that would've been a lot more fair, if you ask me.
