All value aside, this trade still wouldn't work. Toronto has $5.185M in cap space left and they still need to sign Schenn (probably in the $3.5-3.75M range). Kipper is making $5.833M. So they'd need to clear about $2.5M.

And then you bring the value back into it...Kiprusoff isn't what he used to be. Last season, he was 28th in GAA and 34th in SV% among goalies playing more than 25 games. Reimer had an almost identical GAA and a much better SV% (12th in the league...though he only played 37 games vs. Kipper's 71). And he may have been tied for 3rd in the league with 37 wins, but he was also 3rd in games played with 71. 37-24-6 give you 80 points...extrapolated to 92 points over 92 games. Not a smart move to trade your young starting goalie PLUS a 1st for a soon to be 35 year old goalie in order to gain maybe an extra 7 points (and without considering what a full season of Reimer might accomplish).
