Jeff Carter never acknowledged the trade. He ddni't call or speak to Howson or anyone from the team and didn't return Umberger's calls. Being angry is one thing, but to act that immature, for four days was uncalled for. To make the GM and a contingent of players travel to your vacation home in Sea Isle to hold your hand...he's 26 not 16. He seems fine now and hopefully will have a good year there, altough he and Nash seem to be the same type of player, that is a shooter not a passer. I don't know if he's the right fit for Nash. In Philly some of the fans referred to him as the 'allen iverson of the NHL' due to his lack of passing.

But Richards is going back the coaches and system he had his best years as a pro under (155 points, plus 36 in two years with Stevens) In the three years prior to last year's misery (playing the whole year witha torn up wrist and unskilled wingers) in that same system he put up 89 goals (with Gagne riding shotgun) . He stays healthy and he's good for 80-85 points and lot of shorties.
Regarding Carter, if you don't know the story this is what happened. He took a big discount, small cap hit/long term to stay in Philly. He was told at the time of the signing by Holmgren that he would honour the NTC before it kicks in. A few days before the trade happened his agent called Holmgren and asked him if there was any truth to the rumour that Carter was being traded to CBJ and he said no. He told him to tell Jeff to go in and see him if he was concerned. Carter went and talked to Homer and he told him again he wasn't being traded. A few days later, he was gone and it was exactly as rumoured to CBJ for Voracek and a pick. So yeah, Carter didn't speak to anyone for a few days and the GM went out there to reach out to him and everything was fine.

As for Joey Vendetta who interviewed Richie, he works in LA but has been filling in at The Fan for the past 2 weeks. That's why he was speaking so highly of LA. He has had a ton of hockey guys on during the past 2 weeks so it's been a relief to hear all of them instead of Leaf talk all the time! Yesterday he had Richards, Briere, Lupul and Bobby Ryan on so it's been real good.
